Driveway Retaining Wall

After the crazy snowstorm in the spring of 2023, the wood retaining wall on my driveway began to fail:

I knew that I needed to upgrade the wall to a proper masonry brick wall and that it would also match the existing walls and improve the aesthetics of my driveway.  Since I am not a skilled bricklayer I decided to contract my friend Romi to do the work.  Here he is removing the old wall timbers with the bobcat:

Here’s a picture taken after the old wall was removed and before the new wall work was begun:

The next step was to use the excavator and dig a trench where the footing for the new wall would go:

Next, the rebar for the new footing was installed:

Next, the footing was poured:

Once this step was complete, the bricklayers came and completed the entire wall in one day.  It was amazing to watch the team work.  Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of them, but here’s the completed wall:

I thought they did a fantastic job and I’m very happy with how it all turned out.
